CONCEPT2 SLIDES
The Concept2 Slide has been
developed to add a new authentic "on water" aspect to the machine. Consisting of
a simple and easy to maintain track and carriage system, the Slide allows the the Indoor
Rower to move back and forth under the rower, rather than the other way around. This
equates closely to the feel of on water rowing, as well as enabling a faster beginning and
a higher stroke rate. The Slide also enables you to link an unlimited number of machines
together which helps create the feel of rowing as a crew, the development of timing and
slide control on recovery.

For a single machine, two
Slides are required, but for every additional machine, set up as a crew, only one more
slide is needed. Thus, a pair of rowers requires three slides, three require four slides,
four require five slides and so on. Note that you will probably sweat more at a
given output level on the slide, because your body is stationary. This means there is
little air movement around you to evaporate perspiration.

TEAM BOAT SLIDE
When set up as a sliding team boat, not only does it feel more like rowing
on water, but there is also the added benefit of being compelled to row together as a
team. This should be a great training tool for team boat coaches to use during off water
season. However you don't have to be a professional to row with others. These Sliders are
easy to use for everyone, from professionals to beginners. |

SINGLE SLIDE
When set up as a sliding single, the Indoor Rower moves back and forth under
the person rowing, rather than the other way around. This is much more like the feeling
one experiences when rowing on the water. You get a quicker catch, and you can row at a
higher stroke rate because only the mass of the Indoor Rower is being moved, rather than
that of the person rowing. |
The Concept2
Indoor Rower is not just for rowing enthusiasts though. For the gym it represents a
variation to the mix of equipment on offer at a nominal extra cost, as the Side retrofits
to all existing Concept2 Indoor Rowers. It is also flexible. Slides can be placed under
the machines or removed in a matter of seconds. Surprisingly, non-rowers also find it
easier to learn good technique. The lighter feel at the beginning encourages them to start
the stroke by pushing the legs, rather than pulling with their arms.
